I'm calling her

Bernice

Here is a photo series of WIP (work in progress). Mostly this is for TheArtisticBiker’s What’s on your Easel segment for his Thursday night UStreamTV show. So um yeah here we go

Here is the original drawing on 5x7" paper

Gesso’ed then added some left over sand texture (from my piece titled Trish)

Painted on a mixture of blues & greens

Added some circles of bronze

This bad shot is from my phone, I was actually taking another pic & the canvas was in the background, so yeah sorta not a good pic.
I drew her on the canvas then used clay to build up her head/shoulders

And that’s all I’m showing until she is done. I have other projects in the works, but no pics of them yet. . . well I have to save something for next week.

Rainy Days

In the studio = stuff getting done.

Well NOT cleaning stuff, but say la V.

I did finish the cover of the journal I’m using for the Where Art & Words Meet, journaling group. But um, I’ll show that another time. I want to do a “flip” video and I need more done spreads (IMO)

BUT I will show y’all this . . .

This is the fifth (5th) canvas in my Two-29 Series. It measures 34 x 22 and the title is Trish. As you can see from the photo (I hope) Trish was originally drawn in a 5x7 spiral book and I think I was able to recreate her fairly well, not exact but I think the "feeling" is there. Don't you? So send me happy painting vibes, please . . . pretty please with a Cherry Tree on top.

Yes there is a story with this one, but I think it would be fun if y’all tell me the story YOU see.

DarWork

Umm that’s home work as assigned by ArteDar the challenge maker. This week was Women / Females of History – human OR alien, fantasy, whatever were also options.

I heard Luna call me, she was all like: ’Hey I’m female. I’m mentioned frequently throughout history. Commonly referenced to as Female and that means a girl ie woman.’ Then she started spouting off words and phrases and so yeah, I had to write a poem to quieten her down. {that word looks really weird – quieten}

Here is the journal page – with journaling (poem’age) so that counts as TWO ENTRIES.

Poem reads:

The Oldest Female
                        .I know

She guards in the darkness
With her strength of light

She beckons the wild
And the poet to song

She brightens lover’s eyes
And even calls the babe to be born

On the hottest of days
She backs up the Sun and

Then she cools and soothes
Dear Mother to rest

From blue, silver and white she shades
Then misty and red she mourns

She even dared to say cheese
When the astronauts came

Within her cycle is the power,
Power to change even the tides

 ~~~end of poem'age~~~
Week 2 The Documented Life Project* challenge - take a Selfie (a photograph of yourself taken by your self) or otherwise draw / art Yourself. Include (if wanted) your 2014 Word of the year. If y'all know me you know I have a funny bone (it may only be located in my own mind), IF y'all don't know me - umm really? perhaps it's time to break outta your shell and join me in the WeirdLand of um, err, well of somewhere.
So I took my selfie, I happen to have a tripod and I use it and my camera has a self timer and I use that too; hence the selfie as shown here
Yeah, this is me wearing my Worship Me, I'm the queen of the Universe tee shirt (My universe if you don't follow me, humph) My word - what I am seeking and trying to keep in mind in all areas of my life- is
Action N Balance N Action
it means take action but keep it in balance and keep balance in action = Action N Balance N Action.
I printed my selfie on plain cardstock, cut me out (LOL) glued me on some TimeCards I have. Two cards glued together forming a pocket on the side, cause I like hidden places for secret journaling and what not'age. I also found some Key Tags in my stash, I had to have a crown (duh) and one sometimes has to balance and manage action in . . . well in action. The standard stuffs - husband, house, 7 kids, 10 grandkids, miscellaneous friends, and even more miscellaneous family Not to Mention (but I will) self nurture and interests (my work - ART) and any/every thing else that gawks for my attentions (FB / Twitter / UStream / YouTube / E-mail) and what have yous. . .
My finished Selfie
So yeah, that's it Challenge 2 met . . . ^5 me! Please note that I am Balancing on a ball (just pretend ok) I'm holding and doing Action - juggling balls (the brads are balls - gosh just pretend already)
*The Documented Life Project is a closed group on FaceBook you may request to join
What's your bag?
I found mine at the Harbor Freight store with a 20% off coupon, that made it $10.40, on 1-4-14. Yeah I saw some girls fancy’N up some on the FB. And I thought hey I “Need” one of those, it would be better than fighting with getting my stuffs in and out of this blue one with its jumbled up’ness.
I have to take out half of it to get to the bottom and then layer it back up when I it’s time to move. Soooooooooo I saw theirs and knew it would be a super Mobile Art Station and yeah I’ve made it my own.
 I drew her free hand with water soluble graphite (Derwent - Graphitone) coated her in Liquitex Gesso before I added various brands of acrylic craft paints.
I used an ArtistCellar's Dragonfly stencil and a letter stencil from ? made by ? Again used the Liquitex Gesso before adding craft paint and I added sploches of the Gesso along with blue craft paint (smushed it pretty good to really get it into the heavy cotton canvas of my bag.
Finished it off with a generous coat of Liquitex Matte Medium. I still have the other side to fancy up and then add all my stuffs, but I got so excited with how this side came out that just I had to wanted to show it off to y’all and now I have. Oh no worries I’m pretty sure IF the other side comes out’age I’ll show that off too, cause y’all know how I am. Well that and to show off uses for a couple Liquitex products that enter me in a Creative JumpStart2014 give a way. And this link too!
Serita
I forgot to take a Before painting picture, but I know y'all will get over that {grin} Don't know what I will do with her perhaps a journal page at some point or maybe even a canvas . . .
She is pencil drawn painted with acrylics and has a couple of coats of matte medium. For me I find that when I get a portion of a piece the way I like it that if I coat it with matte medium and IF I do something silly and wreck it I can just (for the most part) wipe away the little faux pax {err how ever it is spelled}
and um yeah, that's it for this post. Thanks for tuning in
Roberta
I drew this little face recently, painted her and knew she was an Angel. Funny, I think I have drawn this face before (more or less). I seem to draw similar faces until I get them the way they really want to be, then I can move on. So at first you can see in the drawing she had no clothes on, but she had a hat.
I found some Dede paper that I thought would make a nice dress for her. I cut it to fit, used gel medium to stick down white tulle netting and added a fluffy piece to the skirting. Ribbon belt’age. I used balsa wood to pop up the heart, which I am very happy with the shape and color.
I found some Gelli printed deli wrap that I thought would look really cool as her wings. I glued the wrap to green cardstock cause I loved the bits of green peeking though. I die cut them out and then thought  . . . hey wouldn’t it be cool if she had a bit of metal going on. . . So I took silver duct tape stuck it onto white cardstock, die cut another set of wings and put them just behind the first set. Pretty, don’t know if y’all can see them but in RL , yeah – super.
Oh her hair, I didn’t like the painted hair so I glued on three different colors of crochet thread, kinda unusual but she likes it. Yes had to have some silver stars dancing in the sky. The canvas was one I had laying around it was a funky pink color with sienna colored gears gel embossed on (Yucky). I lightly gesso’ed and then washed a pretty bright blue over it. Yes like that, hit it with some gold – finger painterly style, yes this is her background.
Her name, as I was playing with the arrangement on the canvas I said, ‘Hum wonder what your name is?’ before I blinked my eyes the name Roberta popped in my head. ‘Really?’, I asked, that is an unusual name for me to think of and I heard “yes really” Ok, but it seems not so Angel’y a name. We humans are weird that way. I was telling this story to Johnny as we were pulling into the parking lot of What a Burger Sunday morning. . . we went inside and I noticed the young cashier’s name tag. Yep it was Roberta, lol confirmation. Later in the day we went to HEB for some real food’age and needles as I was talking to the pharmacist and noticed their business cards one of them had a last name of Virture. LoL if y’all don’t know Doreen Virtue is a Teacher / Speaker / Author of all things Angels. lol another confirmation.
Um, so yeah my Guardian Angel’s name is Roberta. She is full of Nurturing Love and Acceptance and all things Heavenly, just the things I need. God is good
doing the Can Can
{laughing in my head} so a while back on FB, I saw a picture of a desk caddy that used a gallon sized paint can for the center and other cans (soup) around it.. . I really liked it so I saved my cans and I already had a gallon sized paint can and
veggie / spam / tuna cans
finally I got motivated to actually make it. I covered the cans (gelli prints) for the most part. I then decided where I wanted the smaller ones around the center paint can. I wanted them fairly secure so I thought to poke holes and use wire along with heavy duty double sided tape. Some holes were easier to poke with my awl then others, some I had to enlarge a bit with my dremel'age. LoL I couldn't find our spoil of heavy wire so I used floral {crossing fingers}
 I fa-naggled the wire'n up of the cans and I think they will hold. . .
after all I won't have super heavy stuffs in 'em. Here is a series of photos showing the finished Paint Can Desk Caddy and so far I'm liking it. Still need to attach (cause I couldn't find it) - a Magnetic strip to hold a needle to poke in the tips of clogged bottles. {wink}
I'm also thinking about how I can make my other lazy susan a bit more user friendly. Now if I could only do the other pro jects {said like Paula} I have been "saving" stuffs for LoL
to the RESCUE
As I was getting my coffee this morning
I heard a horrible news story. Due to the recent severe storms in the area many peoples were without electricity.  What? says I, 'My dear friends can't have coffee!' So I donned my super cape. Well all we Moms and Nanas wear them all the time. . . but this particular crisis called for Super Neighbor Powers . . .
So off I flew
and now that all my Peoples have their coffee I can relax and enjoy my third forth fifth cuppa {well who's counting anyway }with the personal satisfaction that I saved the day . . . again
Paper Hugs
I have been blessed to receive some happy mail over the last few months –
Thank you Butterfly Girls. Y’ALL KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
Any hoot I have put my treasures in a book but I had these cool envelopes and such. They just jumped for joy to be used and I took them and tore ‘em up. Yep I did, just teared ‘em up. Then I glued them down onto black card stock. And ended up with this loverly journal page.
The brown paper stamped with sweet butterflies was the flap of an envelope, I kept it as a flap and hidden underneath is a (hug)
Butterfly Paper Hugs, don’t cha just love it? I know I do
Dodging
Raindrops. My friend, Rejoyce, got this really cool RAK and I loved the raindrop stamp she received (among many things) and thought hey that’s nice and simple I can do that. And I drug out my regular pink speed ball stuff and carving set.
I did a raindrop and thought Hey why not try a dragonfly. I like dragonflies ya know. . . so yeah. Then from the bit that was left I just ran my carving tool over it and in my head I heard “that looks like tree bark, no it looks like a tree!”
And I’m happy so I stamped my new pretties on a Gelli plate Delli wrap clean up pull and now I’m showing off to y’all.
Cutting UP
Light.
Ok, ok so I did this a few weeks ago and I’m just now getting around to posting the picture. I carved my stamp from the regular pink speed ball stuff. I am very happy with it. For this photograph I layered clear embossing powder on my stamped image and made a shiny bulb.
That’s What’s on my Easel, short and sweet.
