It's been a year

We continue to go in for tests and have had a few rounds of chemo over the past year. As of right now it is stable . . . there but stable.

As usual we still see not only the oncologist, but other doctors down at MD Anderson to keep an eye on all his systems.

Yes we still request prayers, without you we couldn't have done this well and come this far. This time of year brings extra stress for us as I'm sure it may do for you . . . the changing of medical insurance season. The hospital only accepts insurance that covers at least 60%, they do NOT take any HMO's. As some of you may have found out the insurances offered through the government exchange is ONLY HMOs.

Please pray that we continue to have adequate medical insurance that MD Anderson will accept

We have update

On Johnny, as some of y’all know we had our series of tests last week and the results are in.

The graph above shows that the count has gone up, not a lot, but enough to warrant a weekly Chemo regime. Also as y'all can see, the count is very well below our starting point in 2006. 

We have done quite fairly well stem cell transplant and he has been chemo free for just over a year. We are sad about it, but have faith that only the highest and best is our outcome. Please continue to pray for all aspects of Johnny – physically, emotionally, spiritually – y’all prayers out there know… and y’all good vibes peoples know as well. Thank you for your love and support.

Good news y’all, we just saw Dr. Wang (oncologist) and Johnny’s numbers are stable. ^5 God & Y’all our prayer warriors. We are very grateful for each of you and the prayers you say, not just on our behalf but for all the people you pray for.  

Thank you is just not a big enough phase, somehow it doesn’t seem to have enough feeling. . . ummmm

With greetings of a Happy New Year that is off to a great start. What you may ask (or not)? Well I’ll answer that with . . .

We had our first visit of the year with Dr. Wang the oncologist, and we have GREAT NEWS, the numbers are stable. Same as last time even. This is super good news y’all. It means another 3 months without Chemo another 3 months to go till the next oncologist visit. And I don’t have to tell y’all that is wonderful news, but I will

THAT IS WONDERFUL NEWS

We acknowledge and give God all the glory for this with our deepest gratitude to Him and to y’all that have lifted, and continue to lift up, Johnny in prayer. Please keep it up because IT IS WORKING.

We saw the Dr. Wang (oncologist) and NO Chemo for 3 months- the Multiple Meyloma is "Stable". This is GREAT news y'all. He has already been off the Chemo for 3 months already.

I'm laughing

over here, on accounta it's been F O R E V E R (seems like) since I posted. . . well ok so it's been a month. What have I been doing besides entertaining grand kids, mowing the yard, meditating, making videos, making messes, the typical cleaning, cooking and laundry service that I do for my family, thinking about dogs (getting one / two - one day). . .

nothing lol that's why I'm laughing. It seems like I have been crazy busy but when I think about it it seems like I've been doing nothing. Well maybe I had a nap or two, had a few headache days (on mowing days)  from too much heat and mowing and edging and cleaning the neighbors weeds off the fence gagh.

here is the really REALLY WEIRD thing that has happen with me a couple of weeks ago. One day I woke up and coffee smelled bad and coffee tasted bad and made me feel like I was gonna up a chuck!. This is totally crazy weird I mean I love(d) coffee been drinking it since I was 11 (that's a few years y'all)  and now I'm not sure what to do in the mornings. I mean my body is fine without coffee, but it is sorta freaking me out mentally y'all. . . I can't explain it.

If y'all want to find some pretty flowers to take pictures of and you don't have 'em in your yard why not visit a nursery ya know a flower growing place. That's what we did a couple weekends ago.

The results of the MRI - not cancer pains in back, Dr said must be a muscle - Go get massaged and I'll see you soon.

Ack, have y'all tried to get an appointment for a massage during Father's Day week. Um yeah.

so we saw the oncologist and the numbers are the same GOOD NEWS

but, because of the severe pain Johnny has been having in his mid back Dr. Wang wants an MRI. After we get that and have the results {which I believe will be fine} We (umm Johnny) will have another round of Chemo.

We briefly spoke with Dr about that measles cure thing, which he of course knew of and he said there are also other things about to go to testing. . . but naturally he couldn't talk about any of that cause it's not ready to be talked about and junk.

and um yeah that's it for now.

UpDate'age

the visit with Dr Wang went well ^5's all around. The maintenance Chemo is working well, better than what the Dr may have thought. . . well because it's a "maintenance" it was somewhat expected to keep the count at about the same level it was. But low and behold the count is now at .02.

Due to sinuses (slight infection) Dr Wang gave a new antibiotic for Johnny to use, after 1 pill he already feels better, but the "due to" part is Johnny gets 2 weekends off the chemo (clap) This is good news because he won't be sleeping most of weekend and fighting high sugar the first few days of the week.

Yes sometimes it's the little things can make ya happy. . . little numbers like .02 in stead of 1.9, 120 blood glucose instead of 340, 8 hours sleep instead of 15. But even for days like that I am grateful just being is a good thing.

Thank you for your continued support and those amazing prayers that hold Johnny (us) so dear in many a heart across this Earth, our home away from home. Please continue those prayers and positive love vibrations and offer a smile of gratitude in faith.

March'in Update

The weekly Chemo is working pretty good. The cancer count has remained down and the protein count has gone down as well. ^5 that and minimal side effects.

The Chemo has lowered Johnny's immune a bit, cutting toenails, left one very unhappy. Although no skin was broke the toe was angry angry and he is starting a second course of antibiotics. And the Essential Lemon Oil is lowering the liver enzymes! ^5 holistic.

Other than that not much is going on except my sinuses are acting up like crazy!

Please continue lifting Johnny up and sending the good love vibes They are working!!! WE we are very grateful for each and everyone of y'all.

on a sad note we may have lost the pears this year. . .

It's been a while

Without an update, but remember this post, we were just at the oncologist yesterday (2-11) and

The cancer count went up very very slightly- Don’t be freaking out. It was sorta expected due to being off all cancer meds for the month of January. Johnny has a new Chemo along with Dex. Because he had such a bad rash / itch with the last one, that post here, and it's still a bit lingering Dr. Wang thinks it’s best to try this new one. Johnny had this one last year during the Stem Cell Transplant without adverse reactions Dr. Wang said. Speaking of a year ago, yep it’s been that long. . .

Johnny’s new birthday day is tomorrow the Feb. 13^th. He is doing well all other numbers are great. Johnny is due for another round of immunizations in March with a final (I think) sometime next year. Tomorrow is when he will get his first dose of this chemo and the Dex on Sat. Not really looking forward to the Dex as that is the one that makes is sugar really really high.

Well here we are

in a bright new year.

Things are going according to God’s plan. If ya remember back in December Johnny was put on a maintenance chemo. After being on it for 5 days he started itching, after 6 days a rash and more intense itching. At the blood test they were told and showed, we were told to take stop the chemo and take over the counter antihistamine. We checked the labels because of possible liver and or kidney issues with medicines, we can’t have any of that because the chemo’s have plenty of their own. Yeah over the counter have issues. So next blood test they prescribed some antihistamines and stay off the chemo cause the rash / itching is not better …. 

a Week later the liver enzymes sky rocketed. Stop the prescribed antihistamines, use benadryl and benadryl cream come back for blood test after 3 more days. . .

That was Monday, stop the Benadryl and take this Z-pack (steroids) Sugar goes crazy on this type of med. So ok after 2 days Rash is better Itching is way better and now we are in the new year. . .

An issue that we are not at liberty to discuss came up at work and we have had to cancel all doctor appointments. So there is no new News- We don’t expect this to be a bad thing for Johnny, we will finish the Z-pack and will get back to the Doctor as soon as things settle down at work.

Up Date'age

We had our visit with Dr. Wang. . . because the neuropathy has gotten so bad, brought on by the Valcade, it has been decided to stop that and switch to Revlimid.

Good News is the count dropped to Zero point Six (from 0.9) ^5 y’all prayer warriors ~ thank you.

Good News we don’t have to go in twice a week anymore, now it will only be once a week, but they will all be downtown.

His liver enzymes will have to be watched very closely and if they spike . . . things will have to be reevaluated.

Good news Johnny has had two rounds of immunizations next round is March’ish. Remember the Stem Cell wiped out the old shots and any built up natural immune stuff from having any childhood illness such as the chickenpox. Which he can’t get the shot for because it’s a live virus and those types of shots are not allowed for Stem Cell recover'ers.

Spirits are high we have put up a Christmas tree as we will be home for the season as opposed to last year and its Festivus Pole at the Tin Palace. Yea! I will be makings my Hot 3 Cheese spread & Wassail. Maybe if time is kind I’ll even make some cookies (I love cookies just sayN) Reduced sugar of course diabetic in the house ya know.

And this will prolly be the last update on Johnny this year, unless something changes. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. Thank you so much. We pray for a calm and UNdramatic Christmas for everyone.

Johnny Update

 We saw the sleep doctor today and she deemed using the CPAP machine is helping . . . however we have got to get the neuropathy under control. It is  fairly common among diabetics and he had a small amount from that, but this long term use of Valcade (about 16 months)  has really brought it on. With each session (twice a week) it spreads and gets worse. It’s not only in Johnny's feet it has progressed up his legs and onto his hands the backs as well as the palms. Most of the time he gives it a pain rating of 7-8 out of 0-10. We see the oncologist in December and we suspect he will want another round of Chemo, due to insurance issue. After that we don’t know what will happen, right now as December 31^st our insurance will end. We were extremely blessed that the company gave us an extension from October 1^st till then. And with that said I know God has already taken care of everything.

Thank you ALL for your continued prayers and support. I personally can feel them as they vibrate into me and I know they are doing the same for my Johnny. It is a true blessing to be surrounded by God’s army of heavenly Angels and His earthbound Angels who lift us up. Thank you, may y’all be blessed a thousand fold for your love and kindness.

Well the cancer count went back up SLIGHTLY from 0 point 8 to 0 point 9. Another round of Chemo.

Please don't be disheartened things are going okay. We truly appreciate y'alls tremendous support of prayers and positive vibes.

The weather was beautiful and being in nature was outstanding. We got home tired, tired and more tired but very happy. Have I mentioned how much we like our own bed? Well we do. Staying with family & friends is great but home is purdy doggone good too.

Honeymoon #10 was perfect'age

will see Dr. Wang in two weeks, this last course of Chemo is done (as of yesterday) and then we will see about those numbers. DeStressing was very good for Johnny please keep him lifted up in prayer and help us bring that C number down to zero point zero. Thank you for your love, support and prayers.  xoxo

Up-Date'age

Cancer count down to point zero 8 from point zero 9. . . not much but still down. More Chemo. We saw a Dr. Weber as our dear Dr. Wang was out sick so please pray for him as well. The PA was able to get us scheduled for Valcade two shots before insurance runs out. Still no confirmation if coverage will continue {but I'm sure it will}

The family reunion was super fun, visiting and laughing my butt off.

Here is the PRIME story About ME

we all went out to eat at a local restaurant Pat's Place. Typically I don't drink but I thought hey I'll have a beer. Now I was sitting next to cousin Allen (head of the table not the family LoL) and Johnny, Allen's wife Stella sat across from me. Allen order a Bud, I ordered Draft. Talking, talking, laughing, lies fish stories (but not about fish) going around and back and forth, y'all get the picture.

Waitress brings the drinks she sat down my water and mug of beer, she then sat down Allen's bottle of Bud. I picked up the mug and had a sip, sat it down

and Allen says, "I'll buy you beer if you want."
I said, "ok" and smiled, y'all know how I am. So next thing ya know he slyly schooched his hand over and turned the mug handle and moved my beer in front of him. Hum, what is he up too I thought

and then he lifted it up and took a swig. LoL What?

I said, "So can you taste the difference?" Allen mutted, "what, huh?"  I kindly took my mug back, Allen got a surprised look on his face and his wife, Stella, started laughing. Told him it was my beer and he was all like no, it's mine.

By now I'm laughing, and in fact the whole table is laughing. Poor Allen, was a tad, just a tad, embarrassed. He thought the bottle and the mug were both his and that I had sipped his beer, hence the offer to buy me one.

I may not have told this story very well but believe me it was so laughing out loud complete with rolling on the floor.

Also the newest visit with Dr. Wang has Johnny on another course of Chemo. The cancer count is down to point 9 – we are shooting for zero point zero. It will happen!

The Sleep test results, which I didn’t tell y’all about, are in he has the apnea and will be fitted for the correct amount of extra air so he can sleep better. Heck rumor has it he may even get sleep. And this will improve all aspects of his health. Now let’s pray that the insurance company covers the cost of a machine and the mask.

A week ago

Today we spent the day and I mean the entire day downtown at the “hotel” MD Anderson.

We had a scheduled routine visit and because Johnny had had really really bad bloating that included intense pain the day and night before (Sunday) we stopped Dr. Wang’s to talk to the nurse about and to show them the bit of rash. After she consulted with the PA and Dr. we were sent onto the ER (at noon) as that is where they can do test and check out the symptoms to get to the reasons and solutions.

Blood test, urine test, hooked up to IV fluids, Xray, CT scan with and without contrast the ER Dr. determined it was prolly gas due to some unknown reason; but there was no blockage and wrote a prescription for a pill that would “move things on” LoL and we were released to go home at 3:30 am. Yes nearly a 24 hours of fun boredom and two days to get over the exhaustion one gets from so much time in the ER.

Now with that all said one of the nurses that we first saw, thought the rash looked a little yeasty, which happens when one has suppressed immune and been on preventive antibiotics (3 x a week) for six months. So being the healer that I am, I picked up some yogurt and said here eat this and I slathered some on the rash. The rash is better, and the bloating is a known side effect of the Dex hence the terrible stuff happening on Sundays (Dex is on Saturday).

And now we believe we have a handle on it and can treat the symptoms on our own. Lol only one more Saturday of Dex for this round anyway. Then we will see Dr. Wang in a few weeks to determine what’s next.
