Tibet

Postcard #46 of the 52 Postcard Challenge as hosted by the delightful Darcy of Art & Sole. Please go by and say Hi and see what all my fellow world travelers have done. It only took me a minute second to know that I wanted to do a Mandala . . . they are a great way to meditate

From Allen to Liz- black Ink, Watercolor pencils

It reads:

Sweet Liz,

It has been a long time since I have let myself feel. Truthfully I am not that happy with it. When I think of you and how it could be, I am giddy…and that is the silliest thing and yet I fall into that dream, a fantasy of being in love, hoping that it is true. I do not know what I would do if you are playing with my emotions I just cannot go through that, through this any longer.

I suppose he believes that Liz will know who it is from, note he didn’t sign it. Any who that’s about it for this week so until next time…

Monaco

Beautiful tiny country, full of excitement…racing, gambling, sculptures. . . What? You didn’t know about the ton’age of sculptures. Yep the Sovereign Prince likes it, so scattered about town are these beauties. In the Fontvieille district several sculptures reside. I actually drew and painted 3 of them, but alas I didn’t like ‘em all scrunched up together on my card, so I picked just one…

From Allen to Liz: Acrylic paint (it looks better in RL)

And it reads:

My dearest Liz

Why do you not write? It has been weeks. I can only presume you are in some far away country that has no postal service or it is very slow. Please write when you get a chance and put my tortured mind at peace.

 With great concern
            Allen

And I suppose dear ol’Liz has disappeared A G A I N. My thanks to dear Darcy of Art & Sole for all her hard work this past weekend and still keeping up with all this other stuff. Please drop by and say “Hey girl” to Darcy and check out all my fellow World Travelers while you’re there.

Slovenia

Ta Dah I call on time. What a beautiful country Slovenia is! It has now been put on my Must Visit List. Thanks Dearest Darcy of Art & Sole for flying me there. I found Lake Bled and it’s magical mystical miraculous wish Bell. Forgive the upcoming pun {intended}. As it turns out this location had the perfect tone for Allen, in a manner of speaking I bet it rings true for Liz as well. Well onward and upward.

From Allen to Liz: Graphite, Acrylic paint, background spray paint – bronze, nickel, clear glitter paint & bright yellow (really there is bright yellow on it & it was sprayed last!).

And it reads…

Sweet Liz, my dearest Liz

I cannot tell you how much I have missed your words. Missed You! I am so relieved to hear from you, relieved that you are alive.

If only I could let myself be free. Free from my own mangled chains …

I could easily fall.

Allen

Ringing the bell – Lake Bled, Slovenia

I want to send out a huge Thank You to Juriaan, for his recent lesson on drawing the Hand(s). I am pleased with the way mine came out. In a way you could say they Ring my Bell. (yeah, like y’all didn’t see that one coming)

This fine week took us to the Huge county of Russia. I googled for Russian Artist, I mean what better to get inspired by than to see the amazing work of others. And yes, yes I did find my inspiration piece…by Anokhin Nicholas titled In an Old House. It like so many (if not all) my prior postcards plays very well with the ongoing story line.

From Allen to Liz: Watercolor & Color Pencils

of your forgiveness

Allen

Um yeah, it appears that Liz may be lost or worse! I hope she turns up soon we are running low on weeks till the end of the year.

Dubai

Well whatdayaknow I scream ON TIME! My postcard is based on an Art installation Bastakiya, The Sound Element (2012 A.I.R. Dubai Resident Artist) Magdi Mostafa. Don’t know about y’all but I can just see the sound bouncing and reverberating off those stone looking walls…echoes echoing up and over the top and words plummet into the depths, collapsing against the stone and falling into the pit of darkness. Yeah, that’s what I see, anywho…

From Allen to Liz: Watercolor crayon, Crayola twistables, shimmery watercolors, cotton string

Dear Liz,

I have not heard from you, I hope my last post has not offended you or worse made you angry and regretful. I only meant that perhaps I need more time to absorb and take in the full measure of you, of our experience together.

Your continuing friend
Allen

And there we have it Postcard #38 out of the 52 Postcard Challenge as brought to us by the delightful Darcy of Art & Sole. Please drop by and have a look-see at the amazing works of my fellow world travelers.

Greece

Here we are on time again, could a habit be forming? Don’t know, but I don’t think I’ll hold my breath as one just never knows what kind of Real Life thing is just waiting to bless itself on one. Ummm One being me’age.

Anyways this week took us to loverly Greece! I have ignored all the hoopla of the financial crisis as this is a fun adventure for me and I hope to keep it that way. I wanted to do a drawing of a statue but umm no, my pencil would have nothing to do with that. Stubborn ol’ pencil Humph! But it did want columns and did an ok job on that…

#37 from Allen to Liz: Acrylic Paints, with Collaged columns

and it reads

Dearest Liz,

That is what I tried to say howbeit I did use more words than you. You are a straight arrow and always to the point and that is yet one more thing about you that I admire. We are agreed then to let things mellow and blend out as they will.

Your Friend

Allen

Please drop by & say hi to Darcy, our hostess over at Art & Sole … and be sure to check out the amazing art of my fellow World Travels.
Oh no it is not cheating to us one of them paper crimpers do dads to make my columns.

Hungary

And it looks as if I am on time’age again!

Now I knew nothing of Hungary and I will try to refrain myself from any wisecracks or corny jokes. I still know nothing of Hungary, despite my growling belly {you knew that was coming} I did find this neat OH peat OH picture from the ol’ google search and thought what ta heck miteaswell  copycatit. {wink}

From Liz to Allen: Soft Pastels, with tiny touches of Color Pencil

Dearest Liz

Your last postcard has touched me deeply. Please take my words carefully and do not read into them more than what they are. We have only met and our time together was short. Let us take that time and hold it dear as we let it unfold into what it may without rushing to make it more then it may have been.

All my best Allen

The Lonely Cedar – Tivadar Kosztka Csontvàry

South Africa

#33 in the 52 Postcard Challenge as is hosted by the Wonderful & Magical Darcy of Art & Sole. I’m crossing my fingers that I don’t get behind again cause playing catch-up is hard, fun but hard. I am pleased with this one & may try this sorta thing on a larger scale. And here we go…

From Allen to Liz: Acrylic paint background; Ladies were acrylic painted using the “credit card” tech – I cut them out glued ‘em on then went over them with Crackle.

Dearest Liz,

Of course I remember the Hatuey, how could I not... The sunset that night as well as that sunrise on the morning we went down the river in South Africa. You certainly have added a very colorful memory to my heart not to mention the sunburn across my full backside. I still cannot believe I let you talk me into doing that. Whatever you do never let that photo get into the hands of Chloe. Although I am sure she would be thrilled for my wild abandon I would rather that she did not actually “see” it.

as always, Allen

Humm, wonder what she talked Allen into that got his “backside” sunburned. Ouchy, I’m sure.
