Some of y'all know

What has been going on with my dad...he is very ill and is now under hospice care at home. Soooo needless to say I have not been working on any new stuff. And don't expect to start any for a while...

However

I have been working on these ATC's for a swap I was committed to (In a Bottle or Jar Swap) they have hidden messages in 'em, cause I like that. They are finally finished.

this was a request by the hostess as I did one simulacra in another swap with her. Between you & me I think she liked it

the cotton in this "jar" was grown by ME

I will try to pop in the streams as I can.

Thank you all for the prayers they truly help.

Hello

Some of y'all know that I've been doing the 21 Secrets Workshop as put on by Connie of Dirty Footprints Studio...any way I wanted to post a couple of photos of the faces I was inspired to do after watching the videos in Drawing Happy with Jane Davenport.

I don't know why it is that sometimes it takes a while for things to click, even though you thought you already clicked.

Granted 21 Secrets is mainly for Art Journaling, but it can and does translate into all your Art work even ATC's as pictured below.

As Promised

I am going to announce the winners of the drawing for the 2 Artist Trading Cards as was posted about here. But alas there are no winners, not even you, as no one was interested in entering. And that is okay, not everyone cares for ATCs. I will offer them up for trade at ATCs for All.

This is a cool site, GPP Street Team, that might give your muse a jumping off spot. Have you seen it? If not you should, however fair warning they play music.

While I'm offering up links have y'all been over to Art-it does a body good, lately? The current challenge is up and waiting for you to begin. I'm hoping to get to it this week as we have had some turmoil around our home. Brother in Law is still hospitalized and lost the lower half of his leg yesterday. We are expecting this latest surgery to start him on the road to recovery and perhaps he can be back at his home by Valentine's Day.

Hang tight my Arting friends and keep on Arting.

Whats UP?

Lots of things were going on around and in the studio in November. I took some classes and am brainyer because of it. Did another MFA outing with my Art Appreciation group, post forth coming. I participated in the November Poem a Day as hosted by Poetics Asides; my selection for the Manuscript (MS) is currently under review by some trusted writer friends. Let's hope they find very little to shred to pieces. My family went on a Thanksgiving trip--Go SCAD! I have drawn and completed my Elephants for a Decorated Elephant Swap over at ATCs for All and a couple of other individual cards.

I have completed my essay for Les Herger, I'm letting it sit for a couple days before editing / revising and sending it in for hopeful acceptance.

Yes I have been enjoying the 21 Secrets Workshop...gotta love it. I know I have not done any journal page challenges from Art-it does a body good for a while (cross fingers I can get back to that). I have missed tons and tons of stuff from my Ustream crowds. I have made some fine facial soaps as gifts for close friends, put together a Christmas list and am awaiting the birth of our 9th grandchild.

So I guess it goes without saying that the rest of the time I spent sleeping or doing laundry. Oh and working on new irons to put in the fire for next year. I know, isn't that coming awfully fast?

See you all sooner if not sooner.

ps did you notice the newest Featured Artist in the left side bar. Hey it's easy to enter...just follow this blog and you could be the next Featured Artist.

Hey I know already!

That I have been somewhat neglecting this blog. But trust me, I said TRUST me I have very valid excuses.

I have been involved in a couple of ATC swaps over at ATCs for All. One is called Let's Get Messy, this one is where we are required to use our fingers only -- NO tools. Fun you should give it a try.

And the other is Design A Moose (Holiday Edition) the hostess provided a moose template and we, the players, design it for a Holiday. I picked Days that are special to my State's Heart...Go Texan Day, Flag Day and Texas Independence Day.

Not to mention that it is the annual Poem A Day Chapbook Challenge, hosted at Poetics Asides. The prompts are interesting this year and you don't have to use the prompt you can write a poem on your own, the point is to write a poem each day of this November month. There is a possible prize...We will have 1 month in which to polish our work (10-15 pages) submit it for the chance of Chapbook publishing. This is exciting stuff dear people.

Oh and not to mention, but I will, I'm still taking some classes and have some field trips to take and Thanksgiving and job hunting and the usual household junk to attend too.

See as I said pretty good reasons for the slight neglect. See y'all soon.

Lookie Here

See what I got...this is the Jack-Pot I won when my name was drawn over at Art -it does a body good, for my journal page entry in one of the Challenges. You know if you played along you could be eligible to win future prizes.

Well being the excited type of person when I win stuff, I could hardly wait to tear into my prize. Okay so I had to wait a few days, but it was worth the wait. First I played around with my WIP, then I straightened up a bit and tried out this foil/glitter/flock kit. First you cut out the shape you want from the sheet of "shapes" then you rub-a-dub it onto the surface of your choice; I used some background paper I had made; then you put the flock / glitter / foil on the sticky stuff and rub-a-dub it and V-oil-A your shape is magically transformed and all blingy like.

How nifty was that, I had to continue and make a few ATCs with this now blingy paper...walk over here and grab this, walk over there and a get that and oooo get some other things. I stuck 'em down with gel medium and next thing I knew I had 4 pretty cool looking ATCs.

Also while I have your attention, I do have your attention right? Why not join up on Art Journaling, you just may be amazed at the stuff you learn and the inspiration that sometimes just kicks you in the rump to get up and get fearless making art from your heart.
