Week 11 of

documented life project (FB group) we were challenged to use a bird.

I stamped a new'ish background stamp with sepia ink onto manila colored cardstock. I cut it so as to make a library pocket and it worked! (^5). I proceed to paint some grunge board letters (chakra colors by chance), before I stuck 'em on the tag I embossed them with a crackle sort of stamp and clear powder.

Embossed with vermilion ink and clear powder the wings and little bird stamps. cut them out, glued the wings to make a sort of pull for the tag, I doubled the wing so it would be sturdier. I then printed the out my quote, cut those tiny things into chunks, glued them on, added black ink pen line'age around them. Used the vermilion ink to shade the edge of the tag and finally took a photograph so I could show it off to y'all.

it reads: No matter if I walk or FLY, I am on the edge of ForEver. and isn't that just so true for all of us.

Week #9

Recycle - use something that you would have otherwise tossed in the bin and collage it. . . ok. So I took these {added something else after photo was taken and the mail man came

collaged the bits, added a couple of leftover bits I found on the counter near my recycle bin and stuck 'em on. What ta heck that's the challenge ya know. I strung the now fancy clothing tags together, took this photo

flipped the tags over and took this photo

I could not resist using the baby that came on some poly tic postcard blah blah who ha mail {THIS IS NOT A STATEMENT, JUST A CUTE BABY THAT MADE ME SMILE)

I attached the tag'age in my planner by poking a hole and running the string through it and tying it behind last week's Add a Flip to your Flap. And this is the end of this story.

Week #4

The Documented Life Project > challenge: write a secret, paint over it leaving a word showing. And a duel post for entering a Giveaway in the great CreativeJumpStart2014 workshop that I’m a part of, also my 4th project for that. Nat calls us Jumpers. The challenge here is to use ideas we saw in a video that used house hold items / sponsor product; In this case Faber-Castell – of which I own none {sad face}

So household stuff it is - Torn book pages matte medium'd onto card stock, painted over with red craft paint, burnished with baby wipes. I wrote with a regular #2 pencil my secret, well more of a very short story, that incorporated my words. It’s ok to plan and figure out how to use that which one wants to use.  Soooo I painted over that with a green craft paint – NOTE I have an eclectic mix of craft paints {end of this note} Painted my words with black.

I used heavy gloss gel medium through a stencil with various sized squares on different parts of the page. And I smeared the gel over my words to protect them from other layers. I did some more journaling with colored ink. Then I brushed on some blue paint, wiped at that with baby wipes, it was looking ok BUT I wanted more texture because it wasn’t showing up very much. Hummm what to do…

I got out my white gesso and used a room card key to scrape it on, Ok I was liking it again. But I wanted more so I grabbed a flower stencil and a makeup sponge/wedge and a purple craft paint. I liked it but it sort made my texture get lost. Oh I know, add the gel through the flower stencil. Yep and to make that show up I added a layer of bright light green and dabbed at that with a baby wipe. Just wasn’t working the way I had hoped, so out came the gesso and card key scraping again.

There, that was better and I thought to leave well enough alone. Especially since I liked the texture and the colors that were showing through the layers, they didn’t photograph very well {shrug}. An up and down sort of page that seems to have matched this day that I was having.

And now the page, like the painted over journaling, has been released to history. So there we have it duel post Entry Challenge CJS2014 - Faber-Castell and Challenge #4 DLP.

Week 3 Challenge

of the Documented Life Project use a junk mail envelope. I have several of these windowed envelopes, I save them (NOT hoard) I glued two of them onto my January card stock flip out. One flips out one way and the other the opposite way (gate fold of a sorts) Used a little washi tape, matte mediumed torn pieces of book paper, covered that with some pretty Tuscon Red Americana paint.

I put some journaling notes in one of the envelopes. LOL the other one I sort of melted the "window" with my heat gun to hurry up and dry already. {shrug} So I covered that one with washi tape and made the opening smaller, but it was just the right size for a gift card envelope. That holds a stamped Owl with googley eyes.

that's it, oh yeah I'm pleased that I'm actually documenting some stuff who knows maybe I'll make it this whole month or longer even.

Week 2 The Documented Life Project* challenge - take a Selfie (a photograph of yourself taken by your self) or otherwise draw / art Yourself. Include (if wanted) your 2014 Word of the year. If y'all know me you know I have a funny bone (it may only be located in my own mind), IF y'all don't know me - umm really? perhaps it's time to break outta your shell and join me in the WeirdLand of um, err, well of somewhere.

So I took my selfie, I happen to have a tripod and I use it and my camera has a self timer and I use that too; hence the selfie as shown here

Yeah, this is me wearing my Worship Me, I'm the queen of the Universe tee shirt (My universe if you don't follow me, humph) My word - what I am seeking and trying to keep in mind in all areas of my life- is
Action N Balance N Action
it means take action but keep it in balance and keep balance in action = Action N Balance N Action.

I printed my selfie on plain cardstock, cut me out (LOL) glued me on some TimeCards I have. Two cards glued together forming a pocket on the side, cause I like hidden places for secret journaling and what not'age. I also found some Key Tags in my stash, I had to have a crown (duh) and one sometimes has to balance and manage action in . . . well in action. The standard stuffs - husband, house, 7 kids, 10 grandkids, miscellaneous friends, and even more miscellaneous family Not to Mention (but I will) self nurture and interests (my work - ART) and any/every thing else that gawks for my attentions (FB / Twitter / UStream / YouTube / E-mail) and what have yous. . .

My finished Selfie

So yeah, that's it Challenge 2 met . . . ^5 me! Please note that I am Balancing on a ball (just pretend ok) I'm holding and doing Action - juggling balls (the brads are balls - gosh just pretend already)

*The Documented Life Project is a closed group on FaceBook you may request to join

Week 1 Challenge

completed - yeah go me Go Me GO ME I said. {LoL}

this is the Week 1 Challenge - your front door (draw/paint/photograph) basically interpret your door. I chose my studio door. . . the one to our home is the same color Purple, even though it looks blue in the photo {shrug}

printed my door on plain card stock, cut it out, glued it a piece of fancy card stock, folded that in half . I wanted my door to remind and represent the Infinite of what lies on the other side - open the door

so these are just a few positive words I was able to think up. this card fits into the January Pocket.

January 3, 2014

trying my hand at

the documented life project 2014. Where in you use a planner (calendar thingy book) for documenting things about your life - list - appointments - challenges - ideas - hopes - dreams - journaling, y'all know the usual whatever stuff.

And this is my planner. I paid $1 for it at the Walgreen's, the paper is very VERY thin. I put a thin coat of clear gesso on the calendar pages, added a white card stock flip out (tip in whatever ya want to call it) to each month, put a scrap book paper on each card stock for a pocket. Added hap hazard tabs they have a charm of sorts on 'em. So far I have actually written some notes. {Oh face} I used my hands as stamps and splatted them on the front and back covers using acrylic paint. I printed out my 2014 word phrase {same phrase repeatedly} punched 'em out with a circle punch and glued 'em down. I like it.

the planner has a plastic cover that I slipped off for decorating. I like that is has a cover and was thinking clear contact paper would be good for keeping the decorated cover clean on other journals. Course once it's stuck on ~ it's on there, ya know.

there is a closed Group on FB - The Documented Life Project, really cool arty type peoples you can 'search' for it and request join'age. I have set up an Album, APG Jamie - Texas, for my photos {yeah you'll see the same ones here & there}
