! Belgium !

Thanks to Darcy over at Art & Sole this week our Postcard travels take us to the country of Belgium. Yes to the home of the wondermous invention of the Belgian Waffle, in Brussels. Can we say YummOH…yes we cans.

Well here is the low down on this American Breakfast Food – it was not originally nor is it now known to the Belgiums as a breakfast dish. Nope it’s a snack sorta like a HoHo (Hostess / Little Debbie) sorta snack). With that said they will prepare them (waffles) for tourist at breakfast time. But between you and me I have a feeling they laugh about it in the kitchen.

And this week brought me back to a Mixed Media Mood: I used bits of Wicker sent to me by Deb_In_PA (thank you <3) “wrapped” them in a paper napkin, glued ‘em to an actual Recipe for Real Belgian Waffles (made with yeast not baking powder). Oh they are held in the loverly hand of some hand model from a magazine.

To Liz from Allen - Belgium

And it reads …

Dear Liz,
Very glad to hear you are letting your   hair down! R.H. said you would be in  Belgium soon …couldn’t help but think of my favorite breakfast, perhaps one  day we could share . I’ll cook! But not any time too  soon though as I’ve broken      my arm. Long story. I drove by your  home the other day was very surprised  to see the lawn so over grown. I’d be  happy to have it done…heck I’m even  willing to sit in a lawn chair with  a glass of sweet tea and watch.

So much fun! It looks yummie!
And yes, waffles or pancakes are not for breakfast here... :)
Still I do love it every now and then, the children think it's very weird but hold their voices because they like them too much to spoil my fun. :)

I've tried waffles when I was in Belgium and I must say that I prefered all the toppings that you can choose to go along with it. :)) The card is great and I hope Allen's arm heals fast. :)

love that you made the waffles this way. The only time we have waffles here is as a desert, with fruit, cream, butterscotch sauce etc.

Love your visual technique. It's so clear and arty at the same time. Is it a collage? I really like it a lot! *smiles* Norma
